After his training at JP Morgan as an analyst in 1984, in 1985, he would join American Express as a corporate bond analyst, where he would work his way up to portfolio manager, before joining Protective Life in 1989. From 1989-1993, James Dondero will bring Protective Life to a $2 billion worth as Chief Investment Officer.
In 1984, he graduates from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, earning the highest honors: Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi. James Dondero would major in accounting and finance.
