There are a lot of people in Houston who are very thankful for Stream Energy right now. Hurricane Harvey struck the city and left most of us grasping at straws as to what to do. Stream Energy did not have the time to just sit around and look on in horror. They decided that they would be better off helping the people of Houston by forming a charitable wing of the company to distribute funds to the causes and people in need in the area.
Stream raised $1,336 and collected over six thousand items for the North Texas Food Bank during Spirit Week! Our Stream Cares Foundation will add another $5,000. Way to go, Stream Team! pic.twitter.com/3NGnfnIYt7

This is the latest trend in corporate America. Giving money to charitable causes or even forming their own charities is something that more and more companies are getting involved with now. They love the ability to help people out while at the same time building up good will towards their own brand. Stream Energy knows that this is part of what they get from making the choice to help out those in their time of need.
It is amazing that more businesses do not take advantage of the dynamic that allows them to give and yet still receive some positive feedback from those who are touched by their giving. The ones that do use this strategy have seen it pay off for them in spades.
There are certain opportunities in the world of business that present themselves as both positives for the community and for the bottom line. To be fair they are not all that common. It is great when a company can capitalize on something that has been put before them like this. The fact that it does not happen more often is troubling, but at least there are examples such as this that make it worthwhile.
Stream Energy continues to look for new ways that it can help the people who have been impacted by storms like Harvey. They want to ensure that they gain as much in terms of positive marketing as they can from this, but they also want to feel that they have done all that they can to bring some peace to the situation that they are trying to address.
