OSI industries is a global, privately owned company that specializes in producing and processing of food items. The company partners with diverse companies such as McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s Pizza, and Subway to supplier meat and vegetable products. Founded in 1909 by Otto Kolschchosky, it has continued to grow and acquire new markets in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Currently, OSI industries has more than 65 production facilities in 25 countries. In 2011 the company was 136th on the Forbes list of richest companies with $3 billion in yearly revenues. In 2016 it moved to no 58 under Forbes list of richest companies with annual income of $6.1 billion. In 2016 it was also awarded the Globe of Honor award by the British Safety Council for excellent performance in business and environment.
In 2016, OSI Industries acquired majority controlling stake of Baho Food which is a private company based in the Netherlands and has locations in Germany. Baho food produces meat products and snacks. During the acquisition Baho executives were still retained in the company to help with the transition of the partnership. To expand its business in Europe it also acquired Flagship Europe in 2016 which was later renamed Creative Foods Europe in 2018. Flagship Europe is a food manufacturer based in the United Kingdom. Flagship Europe is a supplier of pies, frozen poultry, and sous vide products, and it was under Flagship Group which chose to focus on production of fast food products.
In 2016, OSI Industries bought a Chicago based plant and processing unit from the Tyson Foods at $7.4 million. The unit which is 200, 000 square foot provided jobs to more than four hundred individuals. OSI was able to retain some of the workers to work in the plant. The Chicago based processing unit is close to other OSI manufacturing units in Chicago, and the company plans to expand and increase production in the United States.
Mr. Sheldon Lavin is the current Chairman, CEO, and President of OSI International Foods Limited. He joined the company back in the 70s when it was still named Otto & Sons. He participated in the financing of the business and as a result got a controlling stake in the company. Mr. David G. McDonald is the Chief Operating Officer, Uwe Rößler is the Managing Director, Bill Weimer is the Chief Financial Officer, and Mr. Brent Afman is the senior vice president and General Manager. To enhance its sustainability efforts, OSI industries appointed Nicole Johnson-Hoffman to head Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef.
