During performance, the sweet spot occurs in higher brain frequencies. After competing, lower brain frequencies will slow things down and help the brain and body get enough rest for recovery. For most people, winding down is next to impossible. Their mind continues to race and it is nearly impossible to fall asleep. Disrupted sleep is never good.
Being able to will ourselves to block out influences is different from being in a zone where the brain trains itself to naturally block out other influences.
