As President and Chief Operating Officer at OSI Group LLC, David McDonald has had success in many business areas involving food and services. While President of OSI Group, McDonald help broker many acquisitions. OSI’s purchase of Baho food in August, 2016, added the Dutch food company to OSI Group’s Europe business line. It was an purchase, which David McDonald noted, provided a larger business presence to Europe for OSI.
With the purchase of Baho Foods, the OSI Group inherited five subsidiaries with processing plants in Netherlands and in Germany. Those five companies, Bakx Foods, Henri van de Bilt, Q Smart Life, Gelderland Frischwaren, and Vital Convenience, provided food services in Europe to many countries.
An additional purchase that OSI Group made in June, 2016, concerned the Tyson Food plant, which was located in Chicago, Illinois. That facility was procured for $74 million. A spokesman for OSI group was noted as saying that the 200,000-square-foot location, located in the Back of the Yards locale, was near OSI’s other Chicago facilities. This purchase was also deemed by an OSI representative as a means to allow this infrastructure to provide continued business growth for OSI.
Mr. David McDonald has had 30 years of understanding what it takes to succeed in a business sector on an international scale with food, especially in emerging markets in China. The OSI Group has made progress as a company, just recently, in China. OSI partnered with customers, suppliers, and key government agencies there to build new facilities. A large portion of OSI Group’s poultry producing is through OSI China.
McDonald’s prudent decisions to make these acquisitions only helped to maximize the OSI Group’s ability to create dynamic, long-lasting, and successful business alliances on a global scale. OSI Group’s business partners have a thorough understanding about the specific culture, and unique business practices in each of OSI Group’s strategic locations.
David McDonald earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Iowa state University in 1987, and currently serves as Chairman of the North American Meat Institute.
