2016 saw the food solutions and wholesale giant OSI Food Solutions honored with the Globe of Honour Award. The company has a global reach across 17 of the world’s nations and enjoys a significant presence in Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom. OSI Food Solutions is one of the British Safety Council’s Five-Star companies, a prerequisite to being awarded a Globe of Honour. OSI executives were thrilled with the receipt of the award that recognizes the company’s consistent commitment to operating facilities at a high standard of environmental awareness and sustainability. The award came during the same calendar year that OSI Food Solutions saw its venerable CEO Sheldon Lavin receive the World Visionary Award as a celebration of his long and amazing career as a food business executive.
2018 saw OSI Food Solutions once again honored by the British Safety Council. This time around, the award in question was the council’s International Safety Award. OSI was bestowed the prestigious honor due to its longtime commitment to maintaining the highest standards in the realms of safety and health.
OSI has had a number of big news stories related to the company and its operations and expansions over the last few years. The company acquired Baho Food and Flagship Europe in the European market and also increased chicken production at its Toledo, Spain plant by adding a new production line to the facility. A takeover of the former Tyson facility in Chicago has also seen increased production out of that critical home base market for the company.
OSI has a company history that stretches back more than a century. The O and S in the name are a tribute to the companies original moniker of Otto & Sons which the outfit used as its company name until the mid-1970s when it was adapted to simply OSI. The company started out as a simple family-run meat market and today is one of the worlds largest food wholesalers. OSI supplies such famous restaurant chains as Subway, McDonald’s and Papa John’s to name just a few.
