At the top of the top ten list was Madison, Wisconsin. The University of Wisconsin is in the city. While this did not make the first on the list for the friendliest young men, it made the top of the list for the friendliest young women. It also made the top of the list overall.
Boulder, Colorado got the distinction of having the friendliest young men. However, it came up seventh on the list overall. Boulder, Colorado is home to the University of Colorado Boulder. However, it is also home to Regents College, along with Naropa University.
As far as gift giving through the Skout app, Los Angeles makes the top of the list. In fact, more gifts through Skout were given in Los Angeles than a number of other major cities put together. In fact, Miami, Boston, Dallas, and Chicago all together have lower numbers of gifts that have been sent through Skout than Los Angeles.
There are also eight other college towns on the list of the top ten. Furthermore, most of the others are actually major metropolitan areas. In fact, New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Chicago all made the list. Boston did not make the list of the top ten friendliest college towns. However, Boston has an exceptionally large number of colleges. It also came very close to making this list, coming in 12th in the study of friendliest college towns.
Another study made the additional discovery that a significant number of people meet friends online, during college. This study was also done with a sizable number of people. In fact, around a third of college students actually met their friends online! Additionally, people tend to arrive at college not knowing anyone there to begin with. This makes it easier for new students to meet people online, through apps, such as Skout. Furthermore, a majority of students feel that it is easy to make friends, during college.
